Born and raised by coyotes in the wilds of Northern New Mexico, I was
influenced at a very early age by artists such as Georgia O'Keefe and Armando Pena. When I
saw my first Frank Frazzetta book I was obsessed . I must also give credit to a
friend who in 2nd grade could draw a horse that looked like a horse and I always wanted to
be that kind of an artist. In my teen years I picked up an airbrush for the first time.
I attended art school at Eastern New
Mexico University (There may be NO more god forsaken place on planet earth).
I studied under VERNON ACKER - and
yes dammit Vernon I have gone the whole 9 yards. He always hated airbrushed work and I
hope he is twisting in his grave that I actually continued to airbrush.
I moved to Colorado in the mid-80's - I
graduated and really had NO clue how to behave in normal society. I lived in the
high-country where oxygen is scarce and alcohol abundant.
I created no art and inside I was
dying.
Finally no longer able to stand myself , I changed
everything in my life. Soon I moved to Denver to attend school (again). I
picked up my airbrush and spent many, many hours in study of my craft. After I
graduated AGAIN I thought I would do what my parents had always said to do-- get a job.
It was the worst 3 years of my life.
I honestly felt like I had sold my soul and was just waiting to die!!!!
Sept 11, 2001 scared the hell out me. I was forced (along with the rest of the nation) to
confront some long standing beliefs I had held for many years.
I saw that being free was NO SMALL MATTER.
I realized nothing is gained from mediocrity.
I found an inner strength and outer
support. I fell in love.
And I leapt into the void.
I have shown my art around the country-
and won I have won awards.
I continue to do new work and show my art
where ever I can.
I hope you enjoy the art I have done. If you would like to purchase a print or
contact me concerning commission work please feel free.
I suggest an email.
